Tips for Travelling with Kids

Travelling with little ones? Your vacation should be relaxing, but we know how stressful it can be to travel with kids. Keeping kids entertained and engaged throughout your trip – from start to finish – is often a top priority. Here are some of our tips to do just that:

Make the commute as seamless as possible

Minimize the number of times you hear “I’m bored!” and “Are we there yet?” by packing activities for the kids to tackle during the commute, whether that’s in the car or on a plane. Bring tablets with engaging games, books, and coloring supplies to keep kids entertained. A great idea is to surprise the kids with a new toy or book to hold their attention even longer.

Always keep snacks on hand

It seems like kids are always ready for snacks. Keep a bag full of goodies handy to satisfy those cravings. Try to prioritize healthy options like fruit and nuts, but don’t be afraid to pack a couple of sweet treats for everyone as well – it is vacation after all!

Plan a day around the kids

One of the best ways to keep kids engaged and excited about a trip is to give them the opportunity to take the lead. Before your trip, do some research with them and get a feel for what kind of activities they want to do and places they want to see. You can weave a few things into the week or dedicate a full stretch of a day to doing exactly what they want.

Be willing to change things up

Things like the weather, unexpected attraction closures, or even just everyone’s energy level are things you can’t plan for in advance. Go into your vacation knowing that plans could potentially change at any point, so be willing to go with the flow.
